Film and TV Industries
We currently have over four thousand vintage wristwatches in stock, far more than we’ve had the opportunity to describe and photograph for this website. These offer the almost unique opportunity for television and film companies involved in the creation of period dramas and documentaries to have their actors wearing authentic antique timepieces from the correct era.
Quite literally, our unequalled level of stock means that we can supply on loan anything from a single watch for a close up shot on the wrist of the leading man or lady in a piece of work set in the 1950s or ‘60s , right through to a selection of a hundred different early wristwatches for use in a crowd scene set in the muddy trenches of World War I. Almost everything in between these two extremes can be dealt with, from original World War II pilots’ watches to high society art deco models by Rolex, Jaeger LeCoultre and the rest from the glamorous flapper period of the 1920s and ‘30s. Browsing through the pages of stock that we have for sale on this website will give you a pretty good general idea of the kind of watches we have from the era of relevance to your production.
One of the great advantages of working with us in this area is that our specialist knowledge and enthusiasm, which browsers of this site will have realised borders on the obsessive, will ensure that the watch or watches chosen will be entirely appropriate for the year, social standing, wealth and geographical location of the character who is to be shown wearing them. A lot of the major British and American theatrical prop houses have a small selection of vintage watches among their inventories, but most of these are of a fairly low grade and the exact details surrounding them are not very well known. If you require watches even from a specific year, we can supply them and advise on various suitable options if given a little background detail as to the scenes in which they are to appear.
This is a such a broad area, with so many possible permutations, that it is impossible to give an idea of hire charges on this page. Every request will be dealt with on an individual basis and a fair price quoted based on the value and rarity of the watches needed and the length of time for which they will be out of our hands. In some instances, for example the making of a major Hollywood film or important television series commissioned by the BBC or similar, there may possibly be no, or only a very nominal, charge levied, but a firm agreement made that our website details will appear in the accompanying credits and publicity material when the production airs.
